Open Sesame! Kids Education (“Open Sesame,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an educational mobile application and related online services for parents, teachers, and children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use:
- our Android application Open Sesame! Kids Education (package name
com.app.babyapp);
- our website at https://www.opensesame.education/; and
- any related services that link to this Privacy Policy (together, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Important for parents and guardians: The Services include features for children. A parent, guardian, or authorized adult must create and manage student profiles for children. Student mode is separated from the adult area by a PIN. Please read the Children’s Privacy section carefully.

1. Who We Are
The Services are operated by the individual developer behind Open Sesame! Kids Education, based in Greece.

2. Information We Collect
A. Information you provide
Adult accounts (parents, teachers, guardians, and other registered users)
- Account identifiers and authentication information, such as email address and display name, when you sign in with Google, Facebook, or email link sign-in through Firebase Authentication.
- Profile information you choose to provide, such as biography and profile photo.
- Educational content you create or upload, such as lesson titles, categories, age ranges, exercises, collections, books, images, and related metadata.
- Communications you send to us, including support requests and contact form messages.
- Subscription and purchase-related information processed through Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your full payment card details; Google processes payments.
Student profiles (children using the app under an adult account)
Student profiles are created and controlled by a parent, guardian, or authorized adult (“Guardian”). We may collect:
- Student profile name or nickname.
- Age or date of birth information used to determine age-appropriate content.
- Gender, if provided.
- Selected learning language(s).
- Avatar or profile image selected by the Guardian or stored locally on the device.
- Learning activity and progress, such as completed lessons, exercise results, gems, energy, school time, game usage, and approved video activity.
We do not require children to create their own standalone adult accounts.
B. Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device type, operating system, app version, language settings, and similar technical data needed to operate and secure the Services.
- Push notification token: used to deliver notifications to your device through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Usage and diagnostic data: such as crash reports, performance data, and analytics through Firebase and related tools.
- Approximate location: we may derive a general city or region from IP address for service operation, security, or analytics. We do not collect precise GPS location.
- Local app data: certain settings, cached content, and offline data may be stored on your device, including a PIN used to restrict access to the adult section.
C. Information from third parties
- Authentication providers (Google, Facebook) may provide basic account information when you choose to sign in with them.
- Google Play may provide subscription status and purchase verification information.
- Promo or referral information may be received through the Google Play Install Referrer when permitted by your device and platform settings.
D. Permissions
Depending on how you use the Services, the app may request permissions such as:
- Camera – for QR codes, image capture, or related features when you choose to use them.
- Microphone – for speech-related learning exercises when you choose to use them.
- Photos / media – so adults can select images from the device when creating content. We request access only when needed for a feature you use.
- Notifications – to send service-related messages.
- Internet access – required for most online features.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and manage accounts and student profiles;
- provide lessons, exercises, games, videos, books, progress tracking, and other educational features;
- personalize learning experiences, including age-appropriate content and progress reporting;
- enable adults to create, share, discover, and manage educational content;
- process subscriptions, credits, and premium features, including AI-assisted exercise generation;
- send service, security, account, and PIN recovery communications;
- provide customer support and respond to requests;
- maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services;
- detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, violations, and technical problems;
- comply with law and enforce our terms.
Student information is not used for behavioral advertising to children. We do not use student personal information to build marketing profiles for third-party advertising purposes.
AI features: When an adult uses premium AI features, lesson titles, descriptions, and related content may be sent to our servers and to AI service providers to generate educational exercises. Do not submit sensitive personal information in prompts.
4. How We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- With service providers who help us operate the Services, such as hosting, database, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, messaging, translation, image services, payment verification, and AI processing providers. These providers are authorized to use information only as needed to provide services to us.
- With authorized teachers or family members when a Guardian grants access to a student profile or teaching relationship.
- With other users when an adult chooses to make content public or share it through social features such as feeds, followers, or shared lessons/collections.
- For legal reasons if we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
- With your direction or consent.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Third-Party Services
The Services rely on third-party providers, including:
- Google / Firebase – authentication, analytics, crash reporting, cloud messaging, performance monitoring, and related infrastructure;
- Google Sign-In – optional login;
- Meta / Facebook Login – optional login;
- Google Play Billing – subscriptions and in-app purchases;
- YouTube – curated educational video content approved by guardians;
- OpenAI – server-side AI generation of educational content for premium users;
- Google Cloud Translation / DeepL – translation services on our servers where used;
- Google ML Kit – on-device features such as text recognition, digital ink, and translation where enabled;
- Pixabay and similar image services – image search or suggestions where used;
- Other infrastructure and security providers necessary to operate the Services.
Third-party services are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. For example:
6. Advertising
We do not currently display advertising in the app. The app may contain code related to advertising platforms, but advertising is disabled in the current version.
If we introduce advertising in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and will comply with applicable laws and platform policies for apps directed to children and families, including Google Play Families policies where applicable. We will not use student information for interest-based advertising to children.
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security.
When you delete your account or request deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize personal information, subject to backup, legal, and technical limitations. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period or where retention is required by law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and server-side safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy (including COPPA)
The Services are designed for use by families and educators. Children should use the student section only under the supervision and control of a parent, guardian, or authorized adult.
Parental role
A Guardian creates and manages student profiles, controls approved content such as videos and games, and can restrict access to the adult section using a PIN. Guardians are responsible for deciding whether use of the Services is appropriate for their child.
Information from children
We collect only information reasonably necessary to provide educational and entertainment features within the Services. We do not condition a child’s participation on disclosing more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
How we use and share children’s information
- We use student information to provide learning features, progress tracking, and guardian/teacher reporting.
- We do not use student personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
- We may share student information with authorized teachers or family members when a Guardian grants access.
- We may share student information with service providers who help us operate the Services under contractual obligations appropriate to the nature of the data.
Parental rights
Guardians may review, update, or request deletion of their child’s personal information, and may refuse further collection or use of a child’s information, by:

10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- access personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete personal information;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- receive a copy of certain information in a portable format;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Account and content controls: Adults can update profile information, manage student profiles, change privacy settings for shared content, and delete accounts through the app where available.
Communications: You may receive service-related messages. You can control push notifications in device settings.
11. International Transfers
We are based in Greece, but information may be processed in Greece, the European Union, the United States, and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your country.
Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
12. Additional Information for Users in the EEA/UK
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract – to provide the Services you request;
- Legitimate interests – to secure, maintain, and improve the Services, prevent abuse, and support users, where not overridden by your rights;
- Consent – where required, such as for optional features or communications;
- Legal obligation – where we must comply with law.
You may contact us to exercise your rights. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. A list of EU authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on our website. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
